Green and greener

We recycle all our food waste.

Did you know that food is estimated to be responsible for around 30% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions?  And food waste is one of the most significant causes of those emissions making it a major contributor to the climate emergency.

All the food waste collected from Open Door is collected and processed through anaerobic digestion facilities. This process produces organic fertilizer as well as renewable energy, by creating biogas and electricity.

Recycling our food waste is just one way in which we are becoming a more eco-friendly and sustainable organisation.
