Cheltenham Open Door Chef, Marc has worked with the team at Skanksa in Tewkesbury throughout the year, welcoming them to spend a few days volunteering at Open Door, taking over his kitchen (under supervision!) and cooking for our guests. 

Our guests love meeting the guys from Skanksa – who also pay for all the food served – and the kitchen volunteers also enjoy their time with us. 

One of the volunteers shared with us, “For me it was a very humbling experience and thought provoking; things you thought might matter in life, really don’t. With all their woes in life, the guests still had a smile on their faces and were extremely thankful. Where in fact we should be grateful for the experience & fortunate be able to assist. I’m definitely looking forward to helping again.”
