A note about volunteering during the Covid-19 outbreak

We are very grateful for the offers we’ve had of volunteer help during this difficult time.In order to protect our staff and the limited number of volunteers we already have assisting, and to protect you, we do not feel it is advisable to allow new people in to the premises.

However, this does not mean you can’t help us in our efforts. We need small items of dried food and we NEED FUNDS to keep offering our outreach services during the outbreak. If you can help, please head over to our Donate page.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for showing an interest in volunteering with us. There are various ways you can help:

Weekday volunteering

We currently have many generous people, both our own guests and helpers from the community, helping us at Open Door. This means we don’t have any weekday volunteering spaces at the moment. We may, in future, have spaces for regular (weekly) volunteers but this may not be for some time. Please note that, when available, all our opportunities are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
If you would like us to keep your details on file in case a space comes up, please click here to fill out our application form.

For those with busy schedules, regular volunteering may not be possible, but there are so many ways to really help. We are always in need of items to keep the shelter running and we are always grateful for donations. To find out what we need, please visit our donate page.

Volunteering at our Christmas Shelter

Every year, Open Door runs a Christmas Shelter from 24th to 27th December. If you would like to volunteer, please put a reminder in your calendar for mid September! All the information you need will be linked from this page from mid-September. Applications to be Christmas volunteers are open from 1st to 17th October each year and will also be linked from this page.
